Looking after children
I appreciate that most people with children may already know these things but just in case....
If you’re a mum who's feeding, try to bring your baby up to you rather than you bending down to it as this can lead to upper back and neck pain, shoulder pain and headaches! A pillow or cushion under your baby should do the trick.
When changing, bathing or dressing your baby, try not to spend too long bending over or twisting. Kneeling or crouching are good options or failing that try bringing your baby up to your height. I appreciate that this sounds very simple and logical but sometimes we can get into bad habits because they're easier or less time consuming.
When choosing a buggie make sure the handle is at the correct height and offers you enough space to walk (or run) comfortably without stooping or kicking it.
When you carry a baby or child try to vary the position you hold it in from one side to another as this really can help to reduce back and shoulder problems.
