For many of us taking exercise and being involved in sporting activities plays a significant part of our life. With this in mind I thought I would include a few pointers to help reduce the likelihood of aches and pains.
Whether you take your exercises in a gym, do classes or are outside, whether you use equipment or not, ensuring good posture is maintained throughout your activity and your core muscles are working well is really key to get the most out of it injury free.
Wherever possible, any equipment you use needs to be adjusted to suit your dimensions before using.
Having the correct footwear for the activity which also offers the right level of support is essential. So many people come for physio having worn trainers that are old or not offering enough support or having been on a piece of equipment like a bike that isn't correctly set up for them.
Taking the time to make sure you have the right footwear and checking the equipment is set up correctly for you will really help to minimise injury. Don’t forget stretches and adequate recovery time between sessions too.
