If you're considering booking a workstation assessment and would like some more information this bit is for you.
For many of us the days of working 9-5 with an hour for lunch, sitting at the same desk, in the same office surrounded by familiar faces is very much things of the past.
Many more people work longer or more varied hours, often sitting, without regular breaks, maybe at home or hot-desking, even on the train or a plane. Some maybe surrounded by people they see intermittently or spend long hours on their own perhaps using a laptop or mobile phone.
Whatever you do with your day the key thing is that you don't have any aches or pains, however if you do it may well be worth having a workstation assessment done.
This is where I come in.
I’m Jemma Mack, a Chartered Physiotherapist. I have 17 years experience of treating aches and pains including back and neck pain, sports injuries, work related problems and pre and post op problems. I also have 11 years experience of carrying out workstation assessments.
Since graduating I have worked mainly in the private sector, initially in London's West End and City before moving to Bristol and opening The Physio Place at David Lloyd Health Club in Westbury-on-Trym. In 2008 The Physio Place began providing in-house physio at Lloyds Banking Group and the workstation assessment side of the business has become increasingly busy. Personally I find that being able to see people working in their own environment incredibly helpful as I can identify and resolve problems both speedily and with great results.
What does it involve?
Once we've booked you in I will come to you at your place of work and assess you in action. I will watch how you sit/stand and work and discuss with you what you do and how you do it. Once we’ve identified any problems you have we’ll seek to resolve them. I will action as many things as I can at the time of the assessment from moving screens, altering chairs, advising about good posture and if appropriate, showing specific exercises etc. This will then be followed up with a report which will include advice and recommendations.
What areas do I cover?
Although I live in Salisbury I am happy to travel to places including Southampton, Bournemouth, Winchester, Shaftesbury, Warminster and places between and around this area. If you’re not sure if I will be able to come to you, do ask. Please note that there may be an extra charge for mileage if it’s more than 15 miles from Salisbury.
If you'd like to go ahead and book or if you have some questions please do either email or call me.
